Just Before the Cold North Calls

A gentle breeze across the grass,
Birds chirping in the trees,
The last remaining days of warmth before
The yearly winter freeze...

What wonders now I do perceive,
Among the leaves that fall,
The colours that make up the leaves,
Red yellow orange, all...

The morning dew, a gentle frost,
Covering cars and paths,
And everywhere leaves glitter with,
Those tiny crystal lights...

Lost in the beauty of autumn’s delights.
