About

Every good blog has some kind of introduction to the author... or maybe I'm the only one who feels that way. Introductions give me a chance to let people know what to expect before they form expectations of their own - expectations that will inevitably be completely trashed the moment I open my net-based mouth in the form of text vomit. Text vomit is a key component in Kim-blogging.
I tend to also go through spurts where I will not post for months... followed by spurts during which time I will post continuously several times a day. This is also part of Kim-blogging and should be expected by those who choose to follow me on these marvelous adventures. I love to write blogs, stories, and poetry, but I'm not the most dedicated writer as you will most likely find out. I also love art and have recently begun painting, but who knows how long that will last, Anyway, on to more important things.
Before I start off with the actual game stuff, a little about me personally. I'm a 36 year old human female from Montreal. I have spawned two tiny humans, a female aged 6 & 3/4 and a male aged 3. I am married to a sweet man who puts up with more shit than I can properly explain. I am addicted to hot chocolate and French vanilla coffee. I (technically - I'm on med-leave) work as a customer, billing, and technical support agent, keep a household running, and don't drink, eat, or sleep nearly enough. I've fought generalized anxiety disorder and persistent depressive disorder my entire life, and recently (following the new job and destruction of my beating heart), started having panic attacks on a daily basis so I'm now on Seroquel, Ativan, Zoloft, and Abilify. So far they're keeping me functional. I also have really bad motion sickness.
Now for the fun stuff.
I played some NES and Super NES growing up but not THAT much. My mother wasn't big on gaming systems, or gaming in general, and actively encouraged my brother and I to play outside, swim at the park, etc. It was only in college, when introduced to Diablo and then Diablo II, that I came into my own gaming-wise. I haven't stopped since (sort of). After the novelty of D and D2 wore off, I chose a new path.
FFX grabbed my attention for HOURS ON END. I clocked 157 hours in that game without ever actually restarting from the beginning. I also got horribly addicted to Blitzball and kicked my own ass working on the uber weapons that each individual can get. Go me. I did, however, get them.
I then moved on to my first foray into MMORPGing, FFXI. I started playing FFXI in 2004 and got horribly addicted - I'm not even close to kidding although I wish I was. That game was Kim-crack. I would pass out on the futon in my living room with my PS2 controller CLUTCHED in my hand and my keyboard in my lap. Sometimes, if my boyfriend was kind and cooked me food, I wouldn't move for days. It was a dark-time in my life, but a good one too. That game was a fucking masterpiece and utterly epic. It was real for me in so many ways.
In February 2005, with my white mage at level 60 and despairing of ever getting to 75 (also, running out of time to play due to an essential something called work), I decided to join my boyfriend at the time and one of my best friends (who I met in FFXI!) in WoW. I continued playing for over 10 years... and my account is still active. While not as wonderfully brilliant to me as FFXI was, it also wasn't as completely absorbing either so I got to do other things in life alongside it - always good.
Nowadays I play a lot of FFXIV - I have level-capped mains on Faerie, Famfrit, and Midgardsormr, and a few scattered toons on other servers from messing around here and there. I also play Diablo III everytime a new season comes out. I like to get the special frames, and pets, and... really it's just a fun game. Honestly, I'll play just about anything if it is fun, immersive, and doesn't trigger my motion sickness. So if you've got a game to suggest, please do. The distraction would be welcome.
Thanks for reading. ;)
