Ahhh! Overwatch is taking over

So yeah... I chose a self-glorifying image for this post. Gotta boost that ego. ;) J/K. I'm really not all that good at Overwatch, but it is sooooo much fun. I've been sick the last few days so I haven't had too much chance to play, but the time I've squeezed in has been quite enjoyable. It's my first FPS experience, so rusty isn't even the word for my skill-level - I'm 100% beginner - and not one person has been an ass about it. I'm not sure how much of the Overwatch community is shared with the WoW one, but people seem nicer in this game. I'm having a blast playing with L. and D.

L. encouraged me to watch the Overwatch shorts, and I did. Honestly I was really curious about them. They had a few playing at the Blizz booth at PAX East and that's what first made me want to try the game. They're so well done! I'm actually a bit sad that they aren't in the game proper, and I wish there was more storyline built into it. Blizz is so good at story that it seems a waste to have none of it in the gameplay itself, but I get how it could be hard with a shooter game... especially an online competitive one. At least they make the effort to put it out there, outside the game, for story junkies. If any of you do click that link to go watch the shorts yourself - my favourites are "Rise and Shine" with Mei, and "The Last Bastion" with Bastion. Also the scenery in "Dragons" is total love. <3

And again, thanks to L., origin story videos

Oh, and this anniversary video. Watch it.

After watching all those videos, I started clicking around the Overwatch YouTube channel and noticed an advertisement for Pink Mercy in support of breast cancer research. I'm so sad that I missed it. I love pink, and she has pigtails, and she's just super adorable in that skin, and most importantly - I know people who died of breast cancer and research towards finding a cure is just something so worth throwing money at. I wish I'd tried picking it up just that little bit sooner. Ah well. Blizz is a good-hearted company. This isn't the first time they've thrown something in to raise money for a charity/research, and it won't be the last. I hope the player-base keeps being as big-hearted and charitable in the future.

What else? We did Junkenstein's Revenge and I got Play Of The Game for the second time today. I was super excited and recorded it.

Other than that, we mainly stuck to Quick Play. L. and D. are way better players than me and regularly make the top 4. D.'s also covered my butt a few times when I wasn't really paying proper attention to my surroundings (have I mentioned that this is my first FPS?) and I'm super grateful for that. I really couldn't ask for better friends to learn with. Our last Quick Play match was both hard and fun, and I finished off my night with this:

It's the first time my card's been the one with the most votes. I was super excited. Yes, I voted for myself. >.> I set a new record for myself for healing too. It was a good win for me and now I can go to bed happy. And I *am* going to bed because I'm exhausted (that happens when you say up playing Overwatch until almost 4am *ahem*) and really need the sleep for work tomorrow. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, and that your week is amazing too. <3
