So I started off yesterday evening with some ShellshockLive. I'm actually enjoying it... I think. I play alone so it's mostly about challenging myself. Whenever I've had too much difficulty with a mission, I've turned to YouTube for help and honestly, half the time the videos haven't been helpful, descriptive, or worked. First off, they rarely give you exact directions for setting up your shot. Saying "Set your angle to 90 degrees and press left 30 times" is way more complicated than just saying "Set the angle at 60 to the left". The game gives you hard numbers - use them. I also find that they make some weird shots that can be done in much easier ways. Mission: Avalanche is super straightforward, but the video I watched (after figuring it out for myself) had the shot bouncing all over the place for no reason. Maybe I don't get the intricacies of the game and they're playing how they would multiplayer - I don't know. In any case. I recorded a couple of my missions after figuring them out (for myself, yay!). Watch them if you'd like:
L. eventually pulled me away from SSL to come play some Final Fantasy XIV on Faerie. The FC was doing a Sephirot EX clear (which I had never done) so I went along. It was... interesting. There are a lot of mechanics to watch out for and you need to be sure that you're always standing in the right place - alot will insta-kill you, even unsynced. I screwed up a few times, as I knew nothing of the fight or mechanics and kept standing where I shouldn't. Bad popoto. I will admit that I was only half paying attention to the explanations being given on Discord - lately I learn better from either seeing things done or doing them myself, and I tend to tune out when verbal explanations are being given. In any case... there were wipes aplenty, but though it was a learning curve for a lot of us (4 had never cleared it before), it all worked out in the end. Sephirot dead, us alive = success.
And another clear for my tiny pink lala! After Sephirot they wanted to run Zurvan EX, but I'd never cleared storymode on Kikimi. We did that quickly, but by then it was late and a few people needed to head out so we never did do EX.
L. and I decided to play some Don't Starve Together and asked B. and A. to join us (which they did). It was so much fun! The character L. started with kept morphing into a beaver and eating random things, which was hilarious. B. chose a character that could only eat meat, and since we had trouble getting any for her... she died. We ended up restarting a few times so that we could try different characters and just get used to the game overall. There are hounds that spawn every 3-9 days and they destroyed us in one of our games - we couldn't find anything around us to distract them and kill them, and we did not have the strength or weapons to take them on. We were all just shouting on Discord and running around, trying not to die - it was super entertaining. We eventually quit for the night at 2am my time, but we will be playing again and hopefully C. and her beau will be joining us. <3
All in all, it was a super great night and I had a ton of fun. We will (hopefully) play again tonight, but if we don't I'll be playing some Final Fantasy IX. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I'll be back to check in soon. ;)

Willow, my character from DST, says goodbye.
