Huge break, same old, new Beta, and TRPGs - Did I miss anything?

Sooooo, it’s been a very long time since I last updated this blog. I wish I had a good excuse –writer’s block, major catastrophe, imminent death, etc. – but I don’t. Honestly, the real reason I haven’t been updating is because my mental health has been all over the place and finding the motivation to do so has been nearly impossible. I have, however, wanted to get the blog back up and running for a while now. While I haven’t been playing a large variety of games lately, I have been enjoying the same few. Diablo III, Final Fantasy XIV, and Overwatch. I know, I know. Variety is good. It really is. I just haven’t had the energy to start anything new.

Queue friends pulling you out of your funk.

So a friend from my Discord, G., invited me to play the Division 2 Private Beta and I have to say… I’m excited. I wish it would download faster and stop giving me the “While you continue playing, we’ll restore the connection to a service that just got interrupted. Some things might look a little odd in the client in the meantime” message every few minutes, prompting me to stop and restart the download from its previous point but, hey, we can’t have all the things. I’m still excited. It’s third-person game (not likely to make me sick), the graphics are nice (like, really pretty), and I’ll get to play with friends (other than G., I’ll also be playing with A. girl and A. boy - heh).

I don’t know much beyond that at this point, but I have high hopes. We’ll probably get some game time in later today and with some luck, I’ll have found a new game to add to my rotation. In the meantime, I have a slew of other games on Steam that I should break out and break into.

And, onto other things.

So. So.
Sooooo.

For years I’ve been on the fence about Dungeons and Dragons. Do I want to play or don’t I? I created a character with W. I created another character with P. I never played. Well.

This Christmas I bought myself a couple of sets of dice, and 6 of the DnD 5e books. Six. At once. I’m slowly reading through them and I’m supposed to be playing with some Discord buddies in the not too distant future. My character is already 75% established and I love her. Squees. Squees harder. There will be a lot of us (about ten) and we will have a mixture of established and new players. I’m glad that there will be other new people and that I won’t be the only one who’s lost, as I think that will go a long way in making me feel more comfortable overall. I’m also really happy that we will be playing with veterans, as it means that there will be people around to guide us in the adventure if we don’t really know how to proceed (and yes, a veteran will be running the campaign).

If this goes well, I’ll probably try to start up a Dragon Age-themed campaign next. I ordered the Dragon Age TRPG book, as well as the second lore book (the first is hard to track down), so I’ll be all set when that time comes. Oh, and a big thanks to L. for gifting them to me - best birthday gift ever!

In any case. I think I’m going to end this update here. I should be back in a few days to blather on about something else, but in the meantime. Stay safe, stay snug, and stay semisubmersible – don’t ask.

P.S. Oh, and if anyone needs some help leveling in D3, poke me. :D
