Honey I'm home! And this blog post is about sunny RI.

Hello, hello, I'm back! I know I haven't updated in the last few days - being out of town made it kind of difficult - but I'm here and updating now. When I last left you it was Friday night, so I'm going to start with a blog about our amazing Saturday.

We started the day off late, but still had time enough to pack it full of great new adventures. We drove south to Easton's Beach and walked around picking up seashells and pretty rocks along the shoreline. It was cold as all hell, and poor B. hadn't brought a jacket with her, but we still had a bunch of fun. There were a few people out in the water in wet-suits (which I thought was absolute madness), and one lady had brought her dog out for a stroll with her. Poor thing didn't want to leave - he just sat there with a ball in his mouth as she walked back to the car. That dog was my spirit animal - that's how I feel when I'm near the ocean too. Completely entranced with zero desire to leave. Our goal was to do the Cliff Walk, but apparently we were a little far over, so after we had collected enough pretty things, we headed back to the car to drive a little ways away for that.

My collection of seashells and rocks. <3 I brought them home with me.

As we were driving to an entry point for the Cliff Walk, we came across what appeared to be an abandoned mansion. I swear people, I wanted to move in. It looked like something out of a Victorian romance novel... or a modern horror. So so beautiful. Getting a picture of it was interesting, since there was a fence around the property, but I managed to squeeze past the bush to grab a fairly decent photo.

We also stumbled upon this amazing gnarled tree in the Pell's Center yard. I wanted to take it home with me. That bottom bough? Perfect natural bench. And really, have you ever seen such a fascinating tree?

Well, moving on... we finally made it to the Cliff Walk. We didn't quite start at the beginning, and we didn't get to finish it because L. thought it was getting too dark and B. was coat-less, but we still did a fair chunk and it was absolutely breathtaking. We climbed down and across the rocks several times, and even made our way to the water's edge (not sure if that's technically suggested) - it was definitely worth it. What a stunning coastline. I could see myself living here and being very happy. Ocean love. <3 And picture spam:

After the Cliff Walk, we drove back to central Newport to grab dessert and supper (yes, in that order - there was a wait to get into the restaurant). I had a PBF & Pieces sundae at the Newport Creamery, followed by an amazing mushroom pasta from Pasta Beach Pasta Bar. I was so full, but I still pushed myself to finish every bite. It was that good. Pasta is one of my favourite foods. As is cream. And cheese. And mushrooms. So really, this particular pasta just could not go wrong.

Sorry, I dug right in and then thought to take a photo.

After supper, we went home and called it an early night since we had PAX East in the morning. All-in-all, it was a fantastic day and I absolutely love Rhode Island. If you haven't visited, you should. Look at me plugging tourist visits to a place I don't live, in a country that is not my own. You know it has to be amazing if I'm doing that, right? Here are a couple of photos from the area in Newport that we walked around. It really was beautiful. I'm going to have to go back at some point, because we drove past so much more on the way there and on the way back that I really want to see. We just... ran out of time. It was also cold. I think a summer visit is in order.

And with that, I leave you. Goodnight everyone! <3 I hope you all had an equally pleasant weekend.
