Some more progression through Child of Light

To start off - I was recording video but somehow screwed it up yet again. When I try to play it, it gives me this:

Always fun. Half an hour of recording wasted, and all that gameplay not caught on video when I wanted it to be. *sigh* I can't play just that specific bit over, and I don't have time to re-record right now anyways, so I'm just going to roll with what I've got. Blogging.

What I was working on tonight was Oengus's Plight, the companion quest that Oengus gives you and which *I believe* you must do if you want to retain him as a party member. If you decide to help him out, you'll enter the door he's standing in front of and find a totem pole with weapons on either side, two sets of stairs leading downwards, and at the bottom, a door.

Once you enter this door, you'll find a room with several doors. Clicking on these doors will take you to places you've seen before. The totem pole, the door at the base of the stairs, even just the entry point of this room. I'm not the brightest tool in the shed so it took me a little while to figure out that it was a maze puzzle, and even longer to figure out that there were clues that I was missing. In each room is a statue, and each statue is bearing a shield with a symbol on it - sun, star, or moon. Aurora must locate the door with the matching symbol and enter it, then do the same thing in that room, and the next room, and so on. The symbol on the shield changes with each room you enter, so you have to keep an eye out, and the symbol you're looking for can be on the door itself, above the door, or beside the door. Once you've got the puzzle figured out, and if you're observant, it's pretty easy to make your way through. Once you do, you get to meet Oengus's brethren.

If you're expecting a joyful reunion when he finally frees them, you're going to be disappointed. The Kategida-clan consider Oengus a traitor and order him banished from them - he complies, and exits the room. After opening the chests and talking with the clan members, you are only left with the option of leaving as well. Upon exiting the room you find Oengus, who is feeling pretty down and out about the whole thing. Aurora pulls out her magical flute and plays for him, cheering him up, and together you proceed onward to your next challenge -

Cordelia, or Crepusculum, Aurora's evil stepsister. Mission? Take her down and reclaim the moon, which is currently in her possession. Only problem? She turns into one tough-ass dragon.

The fight is long, but not particularly difficult. I used a combination of companions to take her down. Aurora's light attacks are useful on her two minions, but not so much on Crepusculum herself. I found that Oengus, buffed by Tristis, did a pretty decent job of whittling her down and I finished the fight without much difficulty. It's possible (and likely) that there are better combinations out there, but this one worked for me. Once she's defeated, she reverts back to human form and Aurora is able to take the moon from her. Doing so, however, changes Aurora. Gone is the little girl, welcome Aurora the woman.

And this is where I chose to stop for the night - it seemed as good a place as any. The game continues to be amazing, and I'm loving it more the longer I play it. Seriously, if you haven't tried it yet... please do. Just trust me on this, it's worth the time and money. You can thank me later. <3 Goodnight!
